A classic you shouldn't miss
Course designer Frank Pennink wanted to create a golf course in the Algarve that would remind players of those beautiful, challenging inland British courses. The Old Course parkland style layout, often described as the Grande Dame of Algarve courses, is one of the oldest and renowned all over the golfing world.
Although the Old Course Vilamoura opened in 1969, the golf course was completely renovated and modernised 27 years later even though no major changes were made to the magnificent layout.
"Golf Digest" rated the Old Course Vilamoura among the World's top 100.
Why you will love it
The verdant fairways of the Old Course Vilamoura, renovated in 1997, run through surrounding pine trees, adding an extra challenge to the game. The Old Course Vilamoura is a very attractive course with a great variety of holes, perfectly maintained due to a sophisticated new irrigation system and with well-trained staff.
The Par 3 holes are all different and visually very beautiful, representing the toughest challenge on the Old Course Vilamoura. They require careful selection of irons and near perfect ball control. The greens are small, especially on the shorter holes, where there is simply no margin for error.

Leave Faro on the EN 125 towards Albufeira.
