A Course south of Lisbon
Close to Setubal, 45 min. drive South of Lisbon, near the Palmela Castle, the Montado golf course is surrounded by famous muscatel vineyards that were planted more than a century ago. Montado golf course was designed by the Portuguese Duarte Sottomayor, who began his career working with the famous Robert Trent Jones.
A nice countryside layout
The Montado golf course, in south of Lisbon, unfolds beneath old oaks and younger olive trees, chestnut and pines, planted when the course was first built, whilst around it wind creeks and natural lakes.
In operation since 1992, the golf course of Montado needed an impulse to reach the level of quality it deserves. In 2005, extensive remodelling works were initiated under the direction of well-known Portuguese Architect Jorge Santana da Silva. The whole layout of Montado golf course has been redesigned by creating new tees and greens, which are currently in excellent conditions.
The highlight of Montado Golf Course is without doubt the hole 18 where it plays for a green located on an island.
